Stephen Fleming, the main character in the movie "Damage" (2002) is a man who has a life that many would envy. Fleming has a respected positon in government and a loving wife Ingrid (Miranda Richardson) and family. The happy situation is drastically altered when his adult son Martyn (Rupert Graves) brings home a fiancee, a lovely woman named Anna Barton (Juliette Binoche). Stephen and Anna are instantly attracted to each other and soon engage in a covert passionate affair. Stephen soon becomes dangerously obssessed with Anna without ever really understanding her or the consequences of his feelings. The affair is soon revealed and the consequences range from Ingrid's emotionally painful discovery to an unintended deeply tragic turn of events. The movie is an exploration of how a seemingly rational, successful person allows an illicit affair to permeate every aspect of his life.
